Universal Wrecking Corp. (UWC), a premier demolition
and scrap metal contractor, recently completed the purchase and scrap metal recycling
of damaged cargo containers.
A large client involved in shipping, contacted UWC to
purchase over 50 cargo containers that were damaged beyond repair and needed to
be scrapped. The containers varied in
sizes from 20 foot long to 40 foot long. Approximately fifteen (15) of the containers were aluminum in
composition, another fifteen (15) were steel and the remaining twenty (20) were
refrigeration units (“reefer units”). The
aluminum and steel containers were easy to process into scrap but the reefer
units posed a bit more of a challenge due to the amount of insulation in these
units which had to be separated and sorted from the scrap metal. UWC processed the cargo containers into scrap
metal for recycling and provided the client with certificates of destruction.
Due to UWC’s strong relationships in the scrap recycling
industry, UWC was able to offer the client a substantial value for the cargo
containers as scrap metal. The client
was very pleased with the offer as well as UWC’s prompt payments.
